The Duo was founded in 2007 with the aim of uniting the work areas of the two artists in a professional and aesthetically attractive form. The combination of acrobatics and solo musical performance is unique in its manner. The Duo tells a love story between two artists – a couple off stage, as well – and also comprises the rapprochement and fusion of two art forms, music and acrobatics. The result is a performance full of passion and sensuality.The powerful corporeality of the Ukrainian acrobat fits seamlessly with his partner’s beautiful viola playing, which takes up his flowing motions. In a symbiosis between body and sound, strength and smoothness, the two artists are subsumed in each other and sweep the audience away in this spectacle of the senses. Like a siren, the gorgeous musician uses her viola to lure her masculine he counterpart, provides the tact for his movement, and, with the gentleness of her sounds, makes his difficult, strenuous figures seem effortless as if he were floating on the tones she produces. The musician comes from Moscow. She began her musical training at the age of five with the violin and later switched to the viola. She studied in Germany, graduating with distinction. Among her most important teachers are Prof. Kim Kashkashian (Berlin) and Prof. Jürgen Kussmaul (Düsseldorf). Participation in international festivals and master classes paved her way to solo performances, concert tours, chamber music concerts with renowned musicians, radio and television productions, and her own artistic projects.
In 2003, she was the initiator and head of and an artistic participant in the festival of Eastern European cultures, “Kunst ohne Grenzen” (art without boundaries) in Berlin – a contribution to the “Year of German-Russian Cultural Encounters” proclaimed by German Federal President Johannes Rau and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
After attending the Orchestra Academy of the Staatskapelle Unter den Linden in Berlin under Head Conductor Daniel Barenboim in 2003, she played in numerous renowned orchestras, like the Berlin Philharmonic, the World Orchestra for Peace with Valerij Gergiev, the two radio orchestras in Berlin, and as First Solo Violist with the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig and the Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna. She worked with famous conductors like Sir S. Rattle, B. Haitink, M. Gielen, S. Bychkov, F. Luisi, P. Boulez, K.
The Acrobat was born in Kiev, he completed his training as a professional artist with a diploma from the State Circus School in Kiev. He then supplemented his training at the State Circus in Moscow.
Along with various appearances at events and galas throughout Europe, he has performed at the Wintergarten Varieté Berlin, at Roncalli’s Apollo Varieté in Düsseldorf, at the Cabaret du Casino Monte Carlo, at the GOP Varieté Theater in Hanover, Essen, and Bad Oeynhausen, and at the Krystallpalast Varieté Leipzig. At international trade fair presentations, he has represented leading German and international companies like VW, Londa Color, Xerox, Mercedes, Jaguar, Opel, Citroen, Toschiba, Nissan, FULDA Reifen, Garant Möbel, Proctor&Gamble, Ericcson, and the Kunstmesse Basel.
