About This Project

Our Band is one of the first quartet practitioner of the swing manouche (gypsy jazz) musical style in Portugal. The band plays the great standards of the legendary French band Hot Club de France of the 1930’s and ’40’s. Following the revolutionary string swing band style, started by the great and unique-sounding guitarist Django Reinhardt, the repertoire of this quartet includes the most melodic tunes and most impressive swinging music of all time.

The Quartet String Manouche Bombasin is a four musicians, soft & smoth jazz band. Consisting of trumpet / vocals, guitar, bass strings and drums, interpret not only the standards of New Orleans (20 years), but as well the “belle époque” French (years 30 and 40), or the Great American Songs (years 40 and 50) and the “English Classic” Pop & Rock Songs (60 and 70). With a harmonic base of stringed instruments, the group has semi-acoustic sound concept and play seated. The serene style, the timeless and eclectic type of music, becomes the ideal set for receptions or dinners, where musical entertainment is required.

This musicians plays a type of music that it is not for just-jazz fans. It is a mix swing beat, reminiscent of the European Django Reinhardt sound, but full of storytelling and touching from nowadays. They celebrate also the GREAT AMERICAN SONGS with a FRENCH GLAMOUR of the 30’s going to the roots of jazz. Playing the classic swing music that everybody loves, it sounds as an Acoustic Smooth Jazz.
